Our community space at 253-257 Queens Road is open for community groups and events. Details about our regular events are below. You can see what else is coming up on our Event Calendar . And there is space for more, so if you have ideas and might like to host something in the space, get in touch.
What to expect...
We get together to meet, connect, support each other, share ideas, play music, create art, eat, do activities, organise and relax.
We want to make these spaces accessible to all, whatever language, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age or access to financial resources. Our events are free to access - we welcome donations from those who can afford to contribute so that we can continue to do this work.
We would like to support people who speak a language other than English to connect by offering translation where we can. If you speak another language and would like to come along, please let us know.
Please read the FAQs below for more details...
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book in advance?
Most of our sessions are run on a drop in basis. There is a limit to the amount of people we can host for health and safety reasons so we some events are limited numbers and require booking.
Can children come?
Where possible we welcome children and young people to come along with a family member or guardian. Some of the groups that use the space provide activities specifically for young people or adults only.
Will there be alcohol?
Our events are drink and drug free. We feel that this makes the space safer, more inclusive and supports connection.
Can i get involved?
We would love more people to get involved in organising, running sessions, connecting with more people and spreading the word in our communities. Please let us know if you can help.
Can I hire the space?
The space is available for the community to use. We welcome groups that support our mission and values. If you have some budget we ask for a contribution towards our bills and costs, but we want groups use the space even if they can't pay.
Who is organising this?
We are a new community group made up of people living in and near Halifax who enjoy being together in diverse groups, showing up in solidarity with one another and creating new connections. This is a community volunteer led project, set up as a CIC, so if you share our values and would like to get involved please get in touch.
How is this funded?
We funded the set up of this organisation ourselves and were also supported by a grant from West Yorkshire Mayor's Safer Communities fund. We now run on donations and over time we aim to become self sustaining. If you feel able to contribute to help us continue, please get in touch.
If you have any other questions, please contact us.
We hope to see you at one of our events soon :)
